The Sensory Garden

Description :

Using all their senses for discovery, this outdoor program is designed for children who would benefit from being immersed in calming environments. This wellbeing program is suitable for students with physical and intellectual disabilities, communication, language and/or sensory needs.  

 

Students will: 
 

  • Explore through the Sensory Garden and observe the bird life at Central Lake
  • Wander through Fern Gully, visiting the Wellbeing Gardens
  • Visit the Herb Garden and make scented herb bags
  • Pot up a sensory plant or engage in sensory play with natural materials for exploration and pattern making

 

Key focuses: 
 

  • Follow simple steps to pot a plant and make a herb bag
  • Sensory-motor skills, movement and exploration
  • Wellbeing and relaxation
